Hello Ive been to Meineke for about the past 3 months every Saturday Im there and every other day Im calling because something wasnt done properly on my car I have had coupons to use on getting 50% off my break work and I didnt receive that deal I paid full price even after I showed the coupon I had my sway links my engine mount my brakes my rotors and my censor fixed and then my engine light came on once I got it looked at. The part I cant get passed I paid $998.00 for my rotors and my breaks even when I showed coupons that I had they didnt take the price down I paid $1,556.00 on getting my car fixed and I havent seen any progress with my car its been going on 4 months and my car still is doing the same things its been doing when I first brought it to Meineke to be fixed. My car shut off on the highway while my kids were in the car and that was a scary experience I had to get out and push the car to the side of the road luckily I was in the first lane then the car shuttered and started stalling while driving on the street cars were behind me and my kids 3 year old twins were terrified this almost costed my kids there life and not only that could of costed me mine I want to know if there is anyway I can get that money back or possibly get free services for the proper work to be done I will not keep allowing Cesar to tell me oh you need this that and the third and when I buy it and get the parts and pay for the labor my car still has the same problems I can show you all my receipt for everything. I want to honestly sue for the safety of my childrens life after I was told the problem was fixed and it was safe for my kids to get driven in the car I was lied to and I have spent over 1,500 to fix the problems and their not being fixed what is the next step because this isnt over.

Sloppy mechanics only interested in sales quota

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Meineke Car Care Center 3766 Robert C Byrd Drive Beckley, WV 25801 I have only just begun using this garage and my experiences there have already convinced me that quality car care definitely takes a back seat to profit. I went in because my car was hesitating. The mechanic that looked at my car told me I needed to have my head gasket replaced because it was leaking fluid. They kept my car for a week and tried to get me to replace the front end cradle bushings, the rear sway bar linkages, and said they found melted wires going to the fuel injectors and had to replace them. They are also trying to talk me into allowing them to flush the radiator in a 23-year-old car and swear that it will not damage the transmission. The final bill was over $1500. I did not have the car back even half a day when the Check Engine light came on. When I looked under the hood, I found fluid on top of my valve covers, a worm clamp that had fallen down between my air conditioner radiator and the regular one and even the paper instructions for tightening the bolts on the head gasket stuffed in the engine. They had broken the handle off my oil dipstick and made no effort to replace it. When I took it back for these things and the Check Engine light, they told me the head gasket had not been properly tightened down and was now cracked, but instead of replacing it, they put some kind of silicone goop on it instead. They replaced the dipstick with one that didn't fit and cut it down and cut notches on it so I could use it instead. They twice told me the car was ready, and twice the Check Engine light came back on, once before I left the parking lot and the second time within a half an hour, before I had even had time to go home. I took the car in at 8 o'clock yesterday morning to find out why the Check Engine light was still on. They said the O2 sensors on the left side needed to be replaced. But they also told me that my power steering pump was leaking. It wasn't when I took it in. I asked them if they had checked to see if the leak was coming from above. The mechanic then slid back a hose cover and turned the wheel and power steering fluid shot out from two different places. If my car had been leaking at that rate, the power steering reservoir would have been empty weeks ago. I had just had all the fluids topped off. They said they would order the hose and I decided to wait because I was not sure how safe the car would be to drive with the leak. They kept me there from 8 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon before they told me the parts place had sent the wrong hose and they would overnight it and it would be there at 7:30 this morning. They are talking about charging me over $400 to replace the two O2 sensors and the hose, and they have been working on my car for over three weeks. Instead of improving the car's performance, it now vibrates and idles rough which it never did before. To be blunt. their mechanics are trained at finding things to fix, but have absolutely NO skill in actually making repairs. I sat there yesterday listening as people came in for things like an oil change or a safety inspection, and they tried to get them to have new ball joints, tires, control arms, and God knows what else done. They work on the quota system, and they have absolutely no qualms about charging over $80 an hour for labor for guys who shouldn't even be allowed to work at a Jiffy Lube. Do not EVER allow them to do work if you can get it done by your regular mechanic.

The lady at the front desk is extremely rude and should NOT be there greeting customers if you have no customer service skills. This is my second time at the West Bridgewater location and she was very rude and unprofessional then but today the way that I was spoken to/greeted was in unacceptable. I’ve already called to make a complaint but I truly hope that this is addressed. Moving forward I will no longer be a customer of Meineke especially with someone like that greeting customers.

My car had an unidentified clunk underneath. I took it to Meineke in Olympia Wa as recently they had installed front brakes and I already had to return as a shield was bent during installation.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The mechanics and manager Dustin could not find the clunk and surmised it needed shocks and struts. I was told it must be down immediatly and was dangerous my back end could cause the car to go up off the road and lose control. I was given a quote but when I told Dustin I needed to go think the unprofessional behavior and pressure began. I am a senior on an SSI income. I expressed at least 3 times I can not make decisions under pressure. He insisted I get a meineke credit card when I refused he was annoyed. He further offered a $200 off he'd personally pay, which is not true as the new invoice just shows a juggeling of numbers. He said I had to decide right then or the deal was off and I had 5 minutes as he had to order parts coming from out of town for next day's appointment. Sadly I conceded. THEN I had to pay a non refundable $100 deposit for said parts. Then he said I should post on Yelp and give him a 5 star review...he takes my phone saying I'd forget...downloads yelp and wrote it all naming himself and his mechanics and posted it with five stars. Apparently they are in a contest to win a trip.He constantly interrupted my texting to friends so I never got opinions until I got home and it sunk in ..do I even need shocks and struts and what just happened?? Next morning a friend took it to his shop and reputable mechanic who worked it over much better than Meineke. It does NOT need shocks and struts but a ball bearing which is not immediate. I returned to Meineke and nicely told this to Dustin and said I needed my $100 back as they misdiagnosed my car. He said OK but he didn't know how to do that and would call which of course he didn't and ran it through my card. My brother went to confront Dustin who became antagonistic, argued and threw him out..on the way out my brother said they are going to lose a lot of customers from this. Dustin's loud answer was "I DO NOT CARE! WE ARE A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION!". So he doesn't care about us everybody! And since they are a "million $$ corporation" why can't they refund $100 for parts not used and a job not done! I did some research...These parts come from Auto Zone and they looked them up. They are readily available all over this area, no need to order from out of town unless Meineke is trying to sell me used parts under the table. This is a Ford Taurus not an exotic foreign vehicle for crying out loud! I am reporting this to Olympia City Attorney for starters as I found it may be illegal to not refund deposits for a job not done...it is in nearby Lacey. Next is Yelp to tell the truth and then BBB.

I purchased 3 prepaid oil changes ; and have been trying to use my last one for the past month and a half. The location I used has closed, and was told that I’d be sent a certificate to redeem the last one in June, by the mending corporate office, but still haven’t received anything. Totaled Car - They Don’t Care & Neither Does Corporate

Updated by user Mar 13, 2019

I'm done with this. Time to move on.

Posting here got me no further with Meineke. The PissedConsumer site people can remove my post any time they wish. I took several family cars to this shop from 1990 through 2018, primarily because of the previous man in charge, Ken. Ken was a super person.

I miss him.

I will never go to any Meineke shop again. Lesson learned.

Original review Jan 14, 2019
I will add more details later after I calm down. This at involved manager Jim M at the Normal IL shop brokering work out paint work to one of his mechanics to do at home. The promise was that this guy was a perfectionist at auto painting. For now I want you to know that this shop totaled my car through poor workmanship. No shop in town can fix it for a reasonable price other than Maaco. The Meineke shop will not do anything about it and neither will Meineke Corporate, which is apparently only there to receive calls and relay them back to their shops. I will need to give more thought to whether I want to invest my time in an organized, broad, negative social media campaign. I sure don’t want to invest time into a lawsuit. My warning to you is first to not go to this shop and second not to let them talk you into anything that sounds too good to be true. Before calling Corporate I gave Jim a chance to make it right but neither he nor his franchise owner felt they had any responsibility for work they’d vouched for.

Overcharged/Incomplete Repairs

*** Forgot to mention we had to have the second spring coil installed (they should have been done in pairs to begin with and you would think that an auto repair shop should know that) after they did the first one. We were charged for both springs prior and they gave us...

Updated by user Jan 19, 2019

**UPDATE 1/19/19**After another call/complaint to Meineke's corporate headquarters and another call to the credit card company to reopen the dispute with Meineke over the $326.00 the owed back on my charge...I FINALLY got a call from our local Meineke yesterday on 1/18...

Original review Dec 20, 2018
I was given a repair cost to replace both back coil springs and control arms on my Sonata by one of the managers, I approved the work to be done for $749.00. A couple days later I had to call to check on the status of the repairs and was told the car was done, but the cost was significantly higher even after providing a senior discount. I was told he didn't know how the other manager came up with that price. The thing is, I approved $749.00 for the full repair on both sides. It ended up costing $863.00 (after he took off a senior discount) AND they never replaced the second coil spring, instead the new one was in a box in my trunk. The manager said that the other manager didn't add the charge on for the broken spring because he probably didn't see it when he gave me the repair cost. However, the original manager Joe, called me and told me they had it up on the rack and found the broken coil spring and recommended that both sides be replaced.
I paid the $863.00, and still have 1 coil spring that wasn't replaced. I have spoken to other mechanics and did research on this and it is HIGHLY recommended that both are replaced at the same time (as Joe recommended when he gave me the cost for 1 side or both) because it puts stress on the older coil and causes height differences because the new coil is tight and the old one will tend to sag. I am BEYOND upset with this Meineke. I am still waiting for a $326.00 refund on my credit card from charging me wrong on some tires back on Nov. 11th, Meineke has told me twice they have sent the credit in. I have now had to place a dispute on the account because 38 days later and it still hasn't been credited.
And let me add, when they had to replace my struts under warranty a few months ago, they told me that there were no strut mounts on my front struts. They had quick struts on them. I had been charged about $185.00 for strut mounts and installation of them when it was being run by a different manager about 2 years ago. When the new manager Jay discovered they were never put on or installed, he contacted the general manager Doug about it, rather than refunding or offering me an in shop credit on that, their answer to me was "well, it was bad management". I say that is BS, they even said that my strut mounts may have ended up in the trunk of one of the mechanics, there was no way to know, but they were sorry. SORRY...I was ripped off for nearly $185.00 and they know it and ADMIT it to me, then tell me sorry? I have literally done thousands of dollars of business with this Meineke, but no more! I gave them chances to make it good. I would like the money I paid for those strut mounts refunded! I want the coil spring thats in the box in my trunk put on the car like I was originally quoted a price for and then they didn't do it! I am not paying another dime to do it either, I already paid more than what I was originally told it would cost! At this point I have lost ALL faith and trust in our local Meineke. Oh yeah, and I would like to see the credit of $326.01 I have been waiting 38 days for!
At this point they owe me $185.00 for strut mounts and installation I didn't receive, $326.01 refunded on my credit, and the installation of the second coil spring that I was given a price for, then charged more when I went to pick the car up, and that spring wasn't put on.
Thank you!

I used Meineke for a few years. They were quick and cheap. Also they got grease all over the interior of my vehicle and my girlfriend's car. They destroyed the lugnuts on my truck rotating the tires. Had me convinced its normal to drip oil after the oil change due to skid plate on my truck. I finally went to another place and realized all those problems don't need to happen! It cost a little more but all is great now. Wtf

Unbelievable bad experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I'll start this review by first saying that I received half of the money back that I spent on the service of my car through Meineke, Marysville, Ohio, which is a total of $150 given back. That being said, I have had to spend all of that plus more to fix issues that weren't there when I dropped it off in the first place. I took my Chevy Equinox in to get a sound diagnosed. They assured me it was a transmission mount. I didn't think so but against my better judgement, and since they are mechanics, I had them replace it. Cost was $306. Picked up the SUV and not only was the sound still there (which I noticed directly on the way home) but I also had 2 new sounds...one in each of the front tire areas. Called and took it back in. They "fixed" it again after telling me that it was a bad strut assembly, which I had already replaced. I thought "hey, could be defective". No problem. Had them fix it after I bought the new parts for them to use. I picked it up, even more new problems. It creaks, pops, groans and snaps when driving just a few feet. I was told that the front right tire sound that appeared during the first visit was gone but it wasn't and I heard it before I even pulled out of the parking lot. I called in and the man told me that he forgot to mention when I picked it up that they didn't leave both of the new strut assemblies on because one was making a sound so they put the old one back on. He forgot to tell me. So, I'm here taking off all of the parts that they put on and replacing them yet again with new parts and find that the "new" end links that he put on (without me asking him to since the ones that were on there were already new and very nice) are cheap junk. He told me they were Moog. They are not. I called...he says he doesn't even know how those are on there since he ordered Moog ones for it. He said that he doesn't have mine anymore and that they were thrown away. I stop in anyway within 20 minutes and there they are...in a scrap pile. New end links, good quality Moog ones, in a junk pile while my SUV has wafer thin junk on it with these flimsy inserts to make them fit right. I got the parts back from him (no nuts with them) and had to run all over town to find flange nuts that would work. So, several trips into Meineke, wasted time, time spent running all over town looking for parts that I shouldn't have needed to be buy, wasted money spent at Meineke and several hundred extra dollars to fix the sounds that came about after having my SUV in there. Very disheartening. I was shocked. I didn't want to take my car to a no name shop and thought that Meineke would be a great place to go. The only good thing I can say is that Joe was kind to me and kept offering to help and try to continue to figure out the issue. I can't take it back though because every time I do, it gains 2 new issues. I don't have time for that.

Very disturbing and disappointing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Jason the store manager did not verify service that was done only wanted my payment. When I questioned him about this, he got smart and asked me if something had changed. When I insisted he go over what I was paying for; sure 3nough they did not perform the full synthetic oil change. Instead if him correcting the mistake, he changed the paperwork right in front of me and was very rude and dismissive. I then asked if the had performed the 23 point check up & he saud no and the guy was gone I said your paperwork state you did, but if you didn't that is falsifying information like my oil change. He then did the check and found serious conditions with my front axle, power steering and engine filter. Now he finally apologizes and tells me to call corporate to report the guy who did the work. However, I hold him responsible as being the manager, he had plenty of time to check the paperwork before I arrived. I left my car there on Thursday night, and picjed it up at 5:00pm on Friday, August 3rd. The entire experience was unfortunate and unnecessary. There was no reason for Jason to rush me or be dismissive of me as I arrived at 4:45pm and spent well over $500.00 to get alternator and serpentine belt replaced as well as full synthetic oil change. This us the 3rd bad experience that I have had at this Fairview Heights, IL store. It seems like the management doesn't treat everyone fairly and respectfully. A lady came in after me and he was very nice, patient and courteous to her. Jason even told her that her costs were $40 cheaper because he found her cheaper rotors. I certainly would gave appreciated him doing the same for my parts on this repair. I am fed up with Meineke and will be taking my cars elsewhere. I can be reached 618 420 ****
