Car not repaired still at facility

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I dropped my car off to have a water pump replaced. The guy at the front desk initially quoted me $600, and after having it for a few hours, he told me that the price would go up to $900.

After my husband and I had another talk with him about how he couldn't change the first quoted price and how we would call the corporate office, he told my husband not to call corporate. He would try to work something out. That was last Wednesday. It is Monday evening, and they still have my car.

I went inside to talk with the technician and the front desk worker, and while the technician seemed to try to resolve the issue, the front desk worker who took our initial call had a hostile attitude and was telling us we should have gone to Dobbs instead and also that they would have charged more. I am wondering why that was even said because whether we were charged $600 or $1000, my car is still there and not fixed. I initially tried to have patience, but now my patience has run out. To all those who need their car repaired other than an oil change, do not trust these guys.

I don't put it on the company. I put it on the incompetence of the workers.

I also told them that if my car wasn't finished soon as they promised, I would call the police and bring them back with me, and the front desk worker hollered out, 'Now you're trying to threaten me.' Honestly, I think he's in the wrong line of work because if you're that sensitive and not understanding why someone would not be happy with their car being held up without any chance of a finished date, then you are definitely in the wrong line of work, sir. Also, I called the corporate office today, and they are supposed to be getting back with me to rectify the situation, and I hope that they do because this won't be the end as there is always a happy day in court that awaits.

I really had thought this was a good place get car repairs. My engine went out and I really Meikene was honest place.

I know did unauthorized repair by doing partial tare down. Then complaining about the insurance wouldn't pay. First Meikene car center said they thought it would 6500.00 . After Meikene talking the insurance then asked me asked I would to put some money in if I could get better engine.

Then Meikene said the insurance was taken liability. Then Meikene and ask me would be okay paying 2000.00 .I guess would if you have too. But never it would 2000.00 or more. Next I'm told it just went to 3000.00.

Talk to his boss and call 1 800 Didn't no answers. I never receive a estimate regarding the initial price or the increase of a thousand dollar went engine would come in. I told that by Meikene if I want Meikene to start fixing my car then I need to the 3000.00. Otherwise, they wouldn't be in hurry to fix my car.

Keep in mind the engine that I'm half charged for 3000.00 comes from junkyard. Now Meikene have received the 3000.00 they aren't hurrying to fix my car . So engine along cost 6000.00 from Juck yard. Deal they not likely my review .

I feel they wait longing to get car out. But I'm making false statements than sue me. Just because a company is charging you 6000.00 for engine from a Junkyard yard engine isn't mean you pay 6000.00 an engine. I never received a written estimate.

When it iwas 2000.00 and after it became 3000.00. I was so upset . It made ever worst by it not being explained. Then I was told if I didn't up money with they weren't start working car.

Who knows who have contact.Just a nightmare. I hope this nightmare ends soon.

Now my car needed other engine. I went to meikene Crestwood.

The shop said it would likely cost 6500.00.After a month of my car being in shop the insurance agree take liability. The shop ask if wanted a better would I be okay put abit money in. The shop call me ask if I be okay putting in 2000.00.Said if I had too I guess so. When day it 3000.00 dollar with reason or estimate.

Talk to the manager over different shop and he know why 2000.00 said then 3000.00.He never answer my question. The call the 1 800 and they never called me back. Because was my only car and my mom's transportation I pay the 3000.00.Thr shop still didn't when my car comes out shop. keep in mind the engine job is 10500.00.With the shop likely pay 3000.00 and overcharge by 6000.00.This engine came from junkyard.

Unfortunately from my experience the shop number prepose is made has much money has possible. The shop also unauthorized work The inconvenience of not knowing when this nightmare will be done it keeps me up and wants me not want to eat. I feel stupid and dumb trusting this shop.

When their priority making the mist they can off of poor people. This my opinion.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I gotten my $73.00 back

Original review Mar 23, 2025
I went to your car place for a check-up on my car. My 2005 Ford Focus was charged $73.00 for it to be done.

They gave me a paper with what had to be fixed on my car; it was way too expensive. I went back to the car dealer and asked for a statement of what they did on my car before selling it to me. Everything that was on your statement was already done to my car. Plus, they loosened my oil filter because the car dealer said it was loose when they did the work on my car.

I asked if I did it; no, I didn't. They were charging me for everything that was done on the car already. I feel that I was getting ripped off by your company at Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, Georgia. I'm not happy at all.

I don't like being taken advantage of. Believe me, I told everyone what happened to me. I don't know how many people they did that to, but I know they did it to me.

I'm never going there again and telling everyone not to go there. I got ripped off there.

I’d have someone else look at your car for peace of mind. Meineke may have committed attempted fraud. Or your dealer may be covering themselves.

Ripped my money, not honest poor experience and terrible customer service.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

To whom it may concern

This is a complaint.

I bought a Chrysler town and country 2014, I dont understand that much about cars. I took it to Meineke, the one that is located at 1050 Main St.

Willimantic, CT. This place was recommended to me, as it has clever mechanics. Despite that some other people mentioned that they are expensive, I put all my trust in them thinking that I am in good hands.

What happened is the following:

On 09/16/2024 my car failed emission test. On the same day I stopped by Meinke, asking them to check all over the car, to fix the car, and to pass emissions.

They scheduled an appointment on 09/17/2024 at 10 am.

On 09/17/2024 I took the car to them, they checked the car, diagnosed it and issued their report at 11:38 am. The report has two pages; the total cost was $2800. The manager explained that this is everything wrong with car, he also clarified that some are vital and need to be done now, other issues are not necessarily to be done now.

He added that the necessary things to fix the car and to pass the emission are the diagnosis in the first page of their report, and this would cost me $1400. He also said that another technician has to take a look, then he would call me before they start to work in the car.

I did not receive a phone call, I went to them in the same day, unexpectedly I found that they already started to work with my car without getting back to me.

Again I trusted them and I paid the $1400 in advance, telling them that I am having an appointment at the DMV on the 09/20/2024 and I kindly asked them to be done with the car and to pass the emissions before the appointment date.

They said they are going to finish it on the same day.

I called them to check if they are done as promised, they said no, and it will be done tomorrow which is the 09/18/2024.

On 09/18/2024 I received a phone call from them telling me that the car did not pass the emission and it needs to run 100 miles before it has a new emission test.

I explained the I cannot run this distance before having my car registered by the DMV, he said that it is ok and he can figure this out.

On the 09/19/2024 I went to them, I found my car outside the garage and the young man at the office said it did not pass the emission test and they are done work with it and cannot do nay thing more.

They said we can register the car any way and then bring it to them to complete their work, on the 09/20/2024 I registered the car at the DMV. I called Mieneke again to schedule an appointment, they scheduled one on Thursday morning.

Before this date I stopped by , I saw the manager , I explained that I am dissatisfied with this and I paid all the money in advance and the result was nothing , he apologized and promise to fix the car at no additional cost.

On the date of appointment, Thursday the 26 of September at 9:30 am, I took the car to them. Then I also stopped by 1:00 pm. The young man at the office explained that the car was checked and diagnosed (for the second time), it needs only a part that is costing $80 to fix the problem and he assured that everything will be ok and that I can receive the car today.

On the same day, unexpectedly, at 3:30pm (2 hours later) he called me telling me that the engine failed.

And this would cost additional $16000.

I did not know what to do, what is the wrong thing I have done, I trusted them , I paid all the money they asked and literally all the money I have. I brought my car to a well-known place I believe Minekee is a company that has a good image and trusted reputation among its customers.

Me as one of those customers has many questions that needs to be answered:

Do they hire technicians with moderate experience to not be able to know exactly what is wrong with the car after diagnosing the car twice and after having my car in their garage for about one week?

The sound hered in the car has many causes, why they went with the easiest reason? why they did not stop working with the care and telling me about this sound and that it may be severe? Why they just took the money telling me that the car is going to be done and pass the emission and then they get the car outside of the garage claiming that I need the car to go to the DMV.

I just needed the emissions and not the car for the DMV.

Professionally, things should not happen in this way or even in this order, so far I still think that companys name, reputation and image, goodwill and trademark is not build in a day and night. it might take years to build. However, in a situation like this, it might collapse in few seconds.

I actually paid $1408, but because I trusted those people I incurred additional registration and insurance costs for about extra $1300 as they said I can register the car any way, my loss is too much just because of their misleading information, misdiagnosis. I have to add that I am elliptic the stress, the anger and the frustration I am experiencing can trigger my seizure I cannot explain how it feels for losing my money like this.

On the 27 of September, we stopped by and met the manager and the young guy.

We explained everything to the manager who apologized when he knew that the young man assured that the issue is only a part costing $80 dollars.

Few hours later we received a phone call with an offer of making a refund with $700 , we refused the amount.

At 5 pm we received a phone call from the garage asking us to take the car, I was away from them ,I asked my wife to go and take the keys.

And here is what happened according to her.

I stopped by the garage to take the keys of the car as I dont drive and my husband was not home.

The young man at the front desk gave me a report and he wanted me to sign, while there is still work to be done.

I refused to sign because my husband is their customer. And because they are the one who called us to take the car

Until the last minute we were wishing to resolve the issue.

I just asked for the preliminary report, he printed another one and gave it to me.

I asked them does the paper he is giving to me has any thing that says I am the one who wanted to take the keys, he said no.

I tried to understand the report as the dates were confusing . I kept going out to read and get in to understand from him ,he was not patient enough and he asked me to leave because I donunderstand.

I said I will respectfully leave because I respect this trade mark and I pointed to the Minekee trade mark behind him.

I added that looks like you dont respect the place you work for

I was in complete shock from this behavior, I looked at the camera above and said I am being kicked out of this place just because I want to understand their report.

There was a guy standing by the door to the right of the front desk.

I asked him to witness this ,he said he witnessed I am making problems, I got frightened from both of them I said thank you and left.

When I arrived home my frustration and shock was doubled as I read the report.

Their report says that we insist on taking the car from the garage despite that there is still work needs to be done.

In addition to other lies like fully explaining the issues with the car and this didnt happen.

We are totally disappointed, dissatisfied and shocked from what happened, raising this to you , asking you to review the camera s and we believe that all the phone calls are recorded to make sure and investigate every thing.

I would like to add something might be important, when I bought this car , Friend of me named Solomon went to this garage and called me a video call where he showed the car to the manger and the technician there, who said that it is fairly priced.

They also show the engine lights on, in addition to this they saw a diagnosis done by a device that I borrowed from this friend.

At that time they said I can pay only few hundreds to fix the engine lights. So and based on their recommendation I purchased the car.

I dont deny that this was done as a favor from them, but this makes me trust them and directly after purchasing, I brought the car to their garage.

Save your reputation, save your customers.

If you are the one that was calling, it is not that he did not want to work with you or help you. He could not help you because due to your poor English, he could not understand you. In the future get your fiancee to do the talking.

It’s rude and disrespectful for either of you two to ask them to take them back.

The service provider recommended removing and replacing the suspension shock absorbers and other components related to the suspension. We chose this vendor in part because of their commitment to supporting military members, which is important to us as we often deploy and need assurance that our families are safe in their vehicles.

Recently, we noticed an oil spot under our vehicle and promptly called a tow service to take it to a nearby provider, Big O. Upon inspection, they suggested we return the vehicle to the original service provider, Meineke. During this second visit, we received an estimate indicating that we need to replace the oil pan gasket, engine mount, and suspension control arm. We have several concerns regarding this situation: 1.

Why was a significant oil leakage issue not detected? 2. Why did the problem with the control go unnoticed? 3.

How could the defective motor mounts be undetected?

We believe that if these major components are defective now, they were likely defective three months ago. Therefore, according to Meineke's 12,000-mile warranty policy, we request that the necessary repairs be made as outlined in the estimate.

My car was in the shop for 11 weeks and I got it back with more damage that it went in with, check engine lights as well as other lights, missing pieces of trim, I called twice and no one has gotten back to me with a solution. I now need to take my car to another shop to get a diagnostic. I feel that meineke should pay for this.

The bottom line is my car came back with more issues than I went in with and they are still unresolved.

Meineke STOLE over $3200 from me and left me with a broken van! - Image 2
Original review updated Feb 23, 2024

My relationship and trouble with meineke started back in April of last year when I had my 2013 Chrysler town&country towed into the meineke location on Seneca Street in Wichita, KS because it wouldn't start, not even with jumper cables. However, i had a good warranty that paid for towing and covered just about anything else that could go wrong with it, so i figured I'd have it towed to the closest shop to my house in case i had to walk to pick it up.

I called meineke before calling the tow company and Bryan said it was no big deal and they should have it ready by the end of the day (it was early morning when i had the issue). Shortly after noon that day I got a call from Bryan to update me and said my van would be ready in about an hour, if they had my approval to do the work and that it was the fuel pump needed replaced. Of course I agreed because I had plenty of coverage left on my warranty to cover it. Time came to go pick my van up and Bryan and i had engaged in normal small talk as he got my invoice ready and took my payment for the little amount that i owed for whatever the warranty didn't cover.

I made the comment, "dang that was fast, i sure wish you guys did transmission work because i need my torque converter replaced". I knew this from having a previous shop run testing on it after it started showing signs of the transmission acting up. Bryan stated "I can get that done for you here and it'll only take 2 days, the cost will be around $800 total, no problem". I talked to my husband about it and we thought about it for a couple days and decided why not, meineke took care of the fuel pump issue really quick(BTW, they never replaced my fuel pump i later found out, the mechanic only placed a relay switch into my fuse box under my hood, which also put me and my passengers at risk of catching fire or the van to explode in the event of a wreck because the relay switch disabled my emergency shut off switch to my fuel system, therefore allowing the gas in my tank to spill out instead of being shut off like it's supposed to) .

I didn't even make it out of the parking lot because my van wouldn't shift out of park. Which had nothing to do with the fuel pump in the first place, then my speedometer quit working on my way home and so I took it right back to meineke and was told that when I brought it back to have the torque converter changed that it should fix that issue. So, even after this shady situation, my husband and i decided to give meineke a shot because the mechanic DID get my van back to me running and drivable, however we felt that they should be held responsible for fixing whatever they messed up here. So I called Bryan and set up an appointment to take the van in to get the torque converter replacement.

Bryan told me when I dropped it off that they could replace it and work with my warranty company on the cost. All except a portion of the cost anyway. It was only supposed to take 2 days Bryan said he was sure of it because those weren't that big of a deal. He also assured me that having the torque converter replaced would iron out those other issues that developed when they supposedly changed my fuel pump.

Well 2 days and replacing the torque converter turned into 2 weeks and me needing to have my transmission replaced. This whole time I'm still without a vehicle. This was on top of a lot of lies from Bryan in this time span. I called daily to check on my van and every day he would promise it would only be till the end of that day or the next at the latest.

They did eventually give me a loaner car to use, only because I wouldn't stop calling him and complaining because I was missing work through all of this as well. (I'm a full time gig worker, I NEED a vehicle to earn my paycheck to pay my bills) However, finally I had gotten fed up with meineke giving me the run around and told Bryan in a message, because he started ignoring my calls, that if he was going to take ANY longer with my van that I was just going to have to take it somewhere else. He lied to me about what was going on AND he had already began repairs that I HAD NOT APPROVED of so that I HAD NO CHOICE but to wait even longer. About a WEEK after meineke had already had my van, My warranty company (ASC) called me with "great news"...Apparently Bryan had made negotiations with ASC that if they would approve his proposed amount to do so; he wanted to purchase and install a "REBUILT transmission" into my van, PLUS he (meineke) was going to back said transmission with a 5 YEAR REPLACEMENT WARRANTY.

And that's not all, Bryan also informed ASC and myself that meineke was also going to give me a discount of $1500 for all of my trouble and the time it was taking with my van. There's no way I could say no to that good of a deal. Plus I STILL HAD NO CHOICE. HE ALREADY HAD MY VAN TAKEN APART and at this point had started ignoring my calls.

I just wanted my van fixed and back in my possession! FINALLY, Bryan called and said my van was ready to be picked up, so I got there to pick my van up, I had to pay$400+ out of pocket EXTRA for I dont know what before I could actually have my keys to leave with it. Then I got in the van and started it up and I didn't notice ANYTHING any better! Actually it was worse.

Now there was a rattle coming from under my hood. The mechanic told me that that was normal until "it was broken in" and should get better within a couple days after driving it a bit. Come to find out he was lying out his *** 3 DAYS later I took it to a different mechanic and ultimately had to have the fly wheel replaced (it was so bad that it was broken in a complete circle in the middle of it, like it could have been split into 2 pieces easily) costing me another $1000 OUT OF POCKET because Bryan and meineke had taken EVERYTHING off of my warranty which was over $3200 when I took it in for a torque converter replacement! That same mechanic informed me that the transmission that was put into my van had come from a salvage yard and even showed me where the salvage yard had numbered it with chalk, it was NOT a rebuilt transmission!

It's been not even a year and I have had to pay 2 other mechanics to fix transmission issues in my van! Once was the fly wheel a week after I Picked it up from the shop costing me another $1000 and now my transmission is messing up again. Bryan REFUSES to acknowledge I even exist and of course denies fault in my van now breaking down and the fact that he all out STOLE $3200 from me through my warranty company, not to mention what i was also charged out of pocket. I feel I was robbed and done very wrong and I've already paid around $4000 to meineke.

I need this fixed. Refund, replace my vehicle, actually have my van fixed, SOMETHING! DON'T JUST STEAL MY MONEY AND GIVE ME A BROKEN VAN THAT I STILL OWE 10K ON. I've tried to reach out 3 different times with no response!

I even reached out to Meineke on Facebook and was sent an automated message in Facebook Messenger that included a link that supposedly goes to Meineke's customer care center. However, when I clicked on it, it asked me to tell them about my complaint by filling out another form, and so I did and I got an automated response stating that a customer care representative would be in touch with me after they've had a chance to assess my situation. That was back in September of 2023, then again twice in October.

I have yet to hear from anybody from the Company. It's impossible to get ahold of anybody at corporate or to get a response from a customer service representative.

On December 5th, I took my daughter's Chevy Equinox to Meineke in Beech Grove, Indiana because the heat was not working. I paid $100 for an estimate to diagnose why it was not working.

I received an estimate for over $1300. I had my daughter pick up her vehicle and take it to another shop called Bandy's.

Bandy's diagnosed and fixed her heat in 1 hour for $135. I will never take my vehicles to Meineke again.

Lied about price

When I called, they said it would be $75, but after 'fees', it was $99. Don't go here. There are cheaper places with better reputations.

This place damaged my Corvette on a lift cracking the fiberglass and damaging the undercarriage in several places. This was after I specifically asked when making the appointment if they would have any issues lifting the car to check a brake issue.

The manager told me that it would be no problem at all, apparently eager to take on another new job. Later they had no idea what the issue was and suggested I drive the car around some more until the brakes got hot and locked up again. When leaving they didnt give me any paperwork or record of the appointment. They didnt tell me of any issue they had or damaging my car but the next day after checking under the car it was very evident.

I called the shop but the manager would not discuss the incident and just said I would need to talk to their supervisor but he is only there certain days and times.

Also that I would have to come there in person to speak with him. This individual was the franchise owner. I told them I took pictures of the damage and they said that is all he needed and would meet to discuss. After making a special trip there when they expected him and showing the photos and damage he decided he wanted me to also drive the car in so he could put it up on a rack again.

He said he would need to see what was going on.

Unfortunately it became obvious with his attitude and behavior that they would not take any responsibility for the incident or damage to my car. I later asked for a copy of the service appointment and they said it wasnt available.

They said it had been deleted from the computer.

My advice, find another muffler and brake shop to work on your car, there are plenty around. Also be aware that Meineke will not help with any issues and state that all shops are independent so if you have a problem with any service, youre on your own.
